Propane

DO YOU HEAT WITH PROPANE?

Here are some tips:

• Keep an eye on your tanks and check them on a daily basis to try and forecast your need for delivery. Propane Companies have been been very busy, so give the vendor more lead time for a delivery. Don’t call today and expect a delivery tomorrow. If you normally call for an order when the tank is at 30%, call them when it is at 40%.
• Make sure someone is assigned to check remote buildings and locations that are not staffed and keep a record of it.
• If you think you are on a “keep-full” status, call your propane vendor to confirm. Having an agreement with your delivery driver doesn’t mean you’re in the system with your vendor as a “keep-full” customer. “Keep-Full” means that the provider keeps track of your propane needs and makes sure your tanks don’t run out.
• Turn down the thermostats to conserve on propane. Set thermostat to 68 during the day and turn down 5 degrees or more at night.
• Change out filters on heaters for better efficiency.
• Turn down your water heaters to 115 degrees.
• Check for cold air leaks in buildings. Windows, doors, etc.
• Keep the access to the tanks cleared to make it easier for drivers to get in and out of your location(s).
• Check for and report tank leaks.
